Do you have the resilience and patience to build positive relationships with students who require additional support? Are you looking for a permanent full‑time SEMH Learning Support Assistant role in a supportive setting?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist provision based in Scarborough, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs. The setting provides a nurturing and structured environment, focused on building confidence, emotional regulation and independence while encouraging students to achieve their full potential.

The school is looking to appoint a dedicated SEMH Learning Support Assistant on a permanent full‑time basis from September. The successful SEMH Learning Support Assistant will be supporting students with SEMH needs both inside and outside of the classroom, helping to manage behaviour positively, encourage engagement with learning and provide emotional support throughout the school day.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with children or young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health / SEMH needs
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • A proactive and adaptable attitude
  • Experience working within an educational or SEND setting
