TeacherActive is currently recruiting a Teaching Assistant to work in a variety of welcoming and supportive primary schools across Basildon and surrounding areas. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers to support pupils in the classroom, helping them reach their full potential. You will provide one-to-one and small group support, assist with learning activities, and contribute to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment. A sports background is desirable but not essential, offering opportunities to support PE lessons or extracurricular activities. This role is ideal for candidates passionate about education and supporting young learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Support class teachers in delivering engaging lessons
- Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils
- Assist students with additional learning needs, including SEND
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
- Support classroom management and behaviour strategies
- Assist with preparation of learning materials and resources
- Support PE or sports activities when applicable
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children (school or similar setting preferred)
- Patient, caring, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Genuine passion for education and supporting young learners
- Sports background desirable but not essential
- Relevant qualifications (Level 2 or 3 in Education, Teaching, or Childcare – desirable but not essential)
- Enhanced DBS on the updated service (or willingness to apply)
