Special Needs Teacher

Start date: Immediate

Are you looking for an exciting new challenge? Are you a dedicated and supportive teacher? Do you have a good understanding of the national curriculum?

A SEND Teacher / Special Educational Needs and Disabilities teacher is required for long term supply cover in a SEND school just outside of Exeter from September, supporting children in Key Stage 3 and KS4 primarily in cross curricular primary model lessons, so all curriculum knowledge would be required.

The role will be delivering an engaging curriculum at a mix of KS2 and KS3 level and requires a versatile SEND Teacher / Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teacher who is creative and caring in their approach. The school has a team of dedicated teaching assistants who provide fantastic support to the children.

The students all have an EHCP for Autistic Spectrum Disorders, MLD, ADHD and SEMH / behavioural needs, so you will need to be patient, resilient, compassionate and caring.

The school has an excellent reputation and is a great place to work; the staff are welcoming, friendly and supportive of one another and the SLT have a huge amount of experience in leading a specialist school.

The ideal SEND Teacher / Special Educational Needs and Disabilities teacher will have:

  • UK QTS with SEND experience
  • The ability to follow the National Curriculum and provide creative lessons
  • Positive approach to teaching
  • The ability to build good relationships with the staff and pupils
  • Fantastic classroom management
