Pastoral Support Officer Location: Bridgend
Start Date: September 2026
37 Hours Per Week | Term Time Only

The successful candidate will manage the day‑to‑day running of the school’s Internal Exclusion Room, providing learners with a safe and structured environment to continue learning, reflect on behaviour, and successfully reintegrate into mainstream lessons.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children or young people within an educational setting
  • Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills
  • Experience using restorative approaches
  • Ability to support vulnerable learners and pupils with ALN
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A calm, professional, and supportive approach
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion practices
  • Enhanced DBS check required for this role

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and supporting learners within the Internal Exclusion Room
  • Delivering targeted learning tasks and restorative conversations
  • Supporting learner reintegration back into mainstream lessons
  • Maintaining accurate behaviour records and reports
  • Liaising with senior leadership, teachers, pastoral staff, and parents/carers
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning and behavioural needs
  • Monitoring pupil progress and behaviour impact through follow‑up support
  • Creating a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
