TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream Secondary School in Cardiff, who is looking for a dedicated ALN Learning Support Assistant / LSA to join their specialist ASD provision.
The successful candidate will support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of additional learning needs, helping them access education in a structured, nurturing and supportive environment.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced LSA who is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs and making a positive difference to their educational experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing tailored 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with ASD
Supporting pupils with communication, social interaction and emotional regulation
Adapting learning activities to meet individual needs and abilities
Promoting independence, confidence and positive engagement in learning
Supporting pupils with sensory needs and individual learning strategies
Working closely with teachers and ALN staff to support individual development plans
We are looking for an ALN LSA with the following:
Previous experience supporting children or young people with ASD and additional learning needs
A strong understanding of autism and the different ways it can affect learning and communication
Confidence supporting pupils with sensory and emotional regulation needs
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
A patient, resilient and nurturing approach
The ability to use initiative and adapt to individual pupil needs
A genuine passion for inclusive education and supporting young people to achieve their potential
