TeacherActive is currently recruiting experienced and passionate SEND Teaching Assistants to join a specialist SEND school in the DE15 area for both full time and part time roles.
The school supports children and young people with a variety of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Speech and Language Disorders, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and behavioural difficulties.
These are temp-to-perm opportunities, making them ideal for Teaching Assistants looking to find the right school and progress into a permanent position.
Your Role Will Include:
- Supporting pupils with a variety of complex SEND needs
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support
- Helping pupils access learning at an appropriate level
- Supporting communication and social development
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Managing challenging behaviour calmly and consistently
- Building trusting relationships with pupils
- Supporting pupils with their individual education and care plans
- Working alongside teachers and other SEND professionals
- Creating a safe, positive and engaging learning environment
The Successful SEND Teaching Assistant Will:
- Have relevant experience supporting children or young people with SEND
- Be confident supporting pupils with complex and varied needs
- Be resilient, patient and adaptable
- Have experience managing challenging behaviour
- Be comfortable working with pupils with ASD, MLD, SLD and communication needs
- Have strong relationship-building skills
- Be passionate about helping young people achieve their individual potential
- Be looking for a role where they can develop and potentially progress into a permanent position
