TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist educational setting in Bristol to recruit a dedicated Communication Support Worker (BSL). We are looking to appoint a Communication Support Worker (BSL) on either a full-time or part-time basis from September 2026 until August 2027, with the potential for the role to be extended. The successful Communication Support Worker (BSL) will provide professional BSL/English and English/BSL interpretation for Deaf and hard of hearing colleagues and learners, supporting communication during lessons, meetings, training sessions and day-to-day school activities, while helping to ensure equal access to learning and the wider school community.

The successful Communication Support Worker (BSL) will have:

• NVQ Level 6 qualification (or equivalent) in BSL Interpretation.
• Current registration as a Registered Sign Language Interpreter (RSLI) or Trainee Sign Language Interpreter (TSLI).
• Proven experience interpreting between BSL/English and English/BSL.
• GCSE English Grade A-C (or equivalent).
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to work independently, manage priorities and use initiative.
• Flexibility to travel between school sites where required.
