TeacherActive is proud to be working with a specialist educational setting in Bristol to recruit a dedicated Communication Support Worker (BSL). The school is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible learning environment where every member of the school community is supported to thrive through effective communication, collaboration and high-quality educational support.
We are looking to appoint a Communication Support Worker (BSL) on either a full-time or part-time basis from September 2026 until August 2027, with the potential for the role to be extended. The successful Communication Support Worker (BSL) will provide professional BSL/English and English/BSL interpretation for Deaf and hard of hearing colleagues and learners, supporting communication during lessons, meetings, training sessions and day-to-day school activities, while helping to ensure equal access to learning and the wider school community.
The successful Communication Support Worker (BSL) will have:
- NVQ Level 6 qualification (or equivalent) in BSL Interpretation.
- Current registration as a Registered Sign Language Interpreter (RSLI) or Trainee Sign Language Interpreter (TSLI).
- Proven experience interpreting between BSL/English and English/BSL.
- GCSE English Grade A-C (or equivalent).
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work independently, manage priorities and use initiative.
- Flexibility to travel between school sites where required.
