A welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Quinton, Birmingham is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This role will involve providing 1:1 support for pupils with additional needs, helping them access learning and thrive within the classroom environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and making a meaningful difference in a pupil’s educational journey.
The Role
- Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEND, helping them engage with learning activities
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support individual learning plans
- Support pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs where required
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
- Assist with classroom activities and help maintain a supportive learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience working with children in a SEND school or mainstream primary school
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A patient, calm and supportive approach
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
Requirements
- Hold a DBS certificate on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one through the agency
- Be able to provide two professional references from recent UK educational employers
- Have the legal right to work in the UK
