Teach is recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs across a range of mainstream schools and specialist settings.
We have a variety of opportunities available, including day-to-day supply, short-term, long-term and permanent roles. Whether you're looking for flexibility or a more consistent placement, we'll work with you to find a position that suits your skills, experience and availability.
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday
- Typical school hours: 8:15am - 3:30pm (hours may vary depending on the school)
What You'll Be Doing
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you may be responsible for:
- Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
- Assisting children with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and learning difficulties
- Encouraging pupils to engage with learning and achieve their individual goals
- Working alongside teachers to deliver tailored learning activities
- Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
- Supporting pupils in line with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), where appropriate
- Helping to create a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment
- Following all school safeguarding and behaviour policies
What We're Looking For
To be successful, you'll have:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND in a school, care or similar setting
- A calm, patient and caring approach
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Confidence working as part of a team
- A flexible and proactive attitude
- A genuine commitment to helping every child reach their potential
Desirable but not essential
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
- Experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH or other additional needs
- Knowledge of safeguarding and behaviour management strategies
