Teach South Sussex is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in Brighton for a dedicated

  • Learning Support Assistant to join the team on a full‑time basis from
  • September
  • This is an ongoing
  • 1:1 support role
  • , working with a pupil in either
  • Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2

. The school is currently finalising internal staffing arrangements, so the successful candidate will be placed within the most suitable class before the start of term.

Responsibilities

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support to help a pupil access learning.
  • Building a positive, trusting relationship with the child.
  • Supporting both academic progress and social development.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement support strategies.
  • Encouraging independence while maintaining a calm, patient approach.

Qualifications

  • Has previous experience working with children in a school, childcare or similar setting.
  • Is patient, resilient and adaptable.
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development.
  • Can commit to a full‑time, ongoing position.
  • Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to obtain one.
