About the role and school
A specialist school in Waltham Forest is looking to recruit a passionate Special Educational Needs Teacher for an ASAP start.
This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who wants to work within a specialist environment and make a meaningful difference to pupils with additional needs. The school has a strong focus on personalised learning and supporting pupils to develop their communication, confidence, independence and life skills.
The successful Special Educational Needs Teacher will join a dedicated team of teachers and support staff and will be expected to create an engaging classroom environment where every pupil is supported to achieve their potential.
Applications are welcomed from experienced SEN Teachers, as well as mainstream teachers who are considering a move into specialist education.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality and differentiated teaching.
- Plan learning around individual pupil needs and EHCP outcomes.
- Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to engage pupils.
- Promote independence, communication and positive behaviour.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team.
- Contribute to pupil reviews and individual learning plans.
- Develop strong relationships with pupils and their families.
- Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive classroom.
- Take an active role in the wider school community.
Qualifications/Experience
- Qualified Teacher Status is essential.
- Previous experience within SEN is desirable but not essential.
- Strong mainstream teaching experience will be considered.
- Experience with autism, complex needs, SEMH or communication needs is advantageous.
- Excellent differentiation and classroom management skills.
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Genuine passion for working with pupils with SEND.
