About the role/school

We are seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary academy in Twickenham from the beginning of March on a full-time basis. This inclusive, co-educational school caters for children aged 4-11 and promotes an ambitious ethos where pupils are encouraged to be curious, confident, and resilient.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be supporting a child with ASD, ADHD, and non-verbal communication, working closely with class teachers and the SEND team to ensure the child can access learning and thrive within the school environment.

This Teaching Assistant role is based in a school with a broad, well-sequenced curriculum covering core subjects alongside art, music, languages, and computing. The school places strong emphasis on well-being, pastoral care, and high expectations, creating a safe and nurturing setting for both pupils and staff.

Job Responsibilities

The Teaching Assistant will:

Provide 1:1 support for a child with ASD, ADHD, and non-verbal communication

Implement strategies to support communication, emotional regulation, and engagement

Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SEND professionals

Support learning activities and adapt resources where needed

Promote positive behaviour and independence throughout the school day

Qualifications/Experience

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

Proven SEND experience (essential)

Experience supporting pupils with ASD and ADHD

Confidence using alternative and non-verbal communication strategies

An Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service

Right to work in the UK
