About the role/school

We are working with a supportive mainstream primary school in Waltham Forest to recruit a flexible and experienced PPA/Intervention Teacher. This role involves delivering cover lessons for planning, preparation, and assessment (PPA) sessions across various classes, as well as providing targeted intervention support for pupils in need of additional academic support.

The role is ideal for teachers who enjoy variety, have strong classroom management skills, and want the opportunity to work across different year groups and curriculum areas.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality lessons to cover teachers' PPA sessions across Key Stages 1 and 2.
  • Plan and deliver targeted intervention sessions in Maths, English, or other core subjects.
  • Support pupils who need additional help to reach age-related expectations.
  • Monitor, assess, and provide feedback on pupil progress during interventions.
  • Maintain positive behaviour and ensure a safe, structured learning environment.
  • Adapt teaching to the needs of different classes and pupils.
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers, TAs, and school leadership to ensure continuity of learning.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience delivering lessons across KS1 and KS2.
  • Experience delivering interventions for pupils below age-related expectations is desirable.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service.
  • Right to work in the UK.
