About the role and school

We are seeking a dedicated Nurture Teacher to join a specialist secondary school in Waltham Forest on an ASAP basis. This Nurture Teacher role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator who is passionate about supporting pupils with additional needs and helping them develop both academically and emotionally.

The school provides a highly supportive environment for pupils with a range of special educational needs, with a strong focus on wellbeing, communication, independence and positive relationships. As a Nurture Teacher, you will work with pupils who may require a more personalised and structured approach to learning.

This Nurture Teacher position would suit someone who can build strong relationships, adapt learning to individual needs and create a calm, consistent classroom environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons as a Nurture Teacher
  • Create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and academic development
  • Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, SEN staff and wider professionals

Qualifications/Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS
  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEND is desirable
  • Experience supporting social, emotional and behavioural needs is advantageous
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service
  • Right to work in the UK
