A specialist school in Waltham Forest is looking to recruit a passionate Special Educational Needs Teacher for an ASAP start. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who wants to work within a specialist environment and make a meaningful difference to pupils with additional needs. The school has a strong focus on personalised learning and supporting pupils to develop their communication, confidence, independence and life skills.

The successful Special Educational Needs Teacher will join a dedicated team of teachers and support staff and will be expected to create an engaging classroom environment where every pupil is supported to achieve their potential.

Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality and differentiated teaching.
  • Plan learning around individual pupil needs and EHCP outcomes.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and resources to engage pupils.
  • Promote independence, communication and positive behaviour.
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress.
  • Work closely with Teaching Assistants and the wider school team.
  • Contribute to pupil reviews and individual learning plans.
  • Develop strong relationships with pupils and their families.
  • Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive classroom.
  • Take an active role in the wider school community.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status is essential.
  • Previous experience within SEN is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong mainstream teaching experience will be considered.
  • Experience with autism, complex needs, SEMH or communication needs is advantageous.
  • Excellent differentiation and classroom management skills.
  • A calm, patient and adaptable approach.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Genuine passion for working with pupils with SEND.
