About the role and school
We are seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Waltham Forest from September. This role involves providing dedicated support to a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, develop confidence and achieve their individual targets. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver personalised support throughout the school day. You will play a key role in promoting independence, encouraging engagement and helping to create a positive learning experience.
This opportunity would suit someone with previous experience supporting children with special educational needs who is patient, proactive and passionate about making a positive difference in a child's education.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs
- Implement strategies outlined within the pupil's EHCP
- Support learning, communication and emotional development
- Promote positive behaviour and engagement
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals
- Monitor progress and contribute to pupil reviews
Qualifications/Experience
- Previous experience supporting children with SEND is desirable
- Experience working within a primary school is advantageous
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service
- Right to work in the UK
