Salary: £108 per day

About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently working with primary schools across Newham who require reliable and experienced SEN Teaching Assistants for ad hoc supply work. This is an excellent opportunity for an Ad Hoc SEN Teaching Assistant who is looking for flexible work around their existing commitments while gaining experience across a range of primary school settings. You may be supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, working within small groups or providing general classroom support depending on the needs of the school. Previous experience working with pupils with SEND is highly desirable. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will be reliable, adaptable and confident stepping into different classroom environments at short notice.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide effective support to pupils with SEND.
  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group support where required.
  • Assist pupils in accessing classroom learning.
  • Support pupils with their social, emotional and behavioural development.
  • Work alongside teachers and other support staff.
  • Follow individual support plans and school procedures.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils.
  • Promote independence and positive behaviour.
  • Adapt quickly to different school environments.
  • Maintain high safeguarding standards.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Previous UK school experience is desirable.
  • Experience working with children with SEND is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Reliable and flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different school environments.
  • Patient and nurturing approach.
  • Valid DBS on the Update Service is desirable.
