We are seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Waltham Forest from September. This role involves providing dedicated support to a pupil with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum, develop confidence and achieve their individual targets. The successful 1:1 Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to deliver personalised support throughout the school day. As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in promoting independence, encouraging engagement and helping to create a positive learning experience. This opportunity would suit someone with previous experience supporting children with special educational needs, who is patient, proactive and passionate about making a positive difference in a child's education.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a pupil with additional needs
  • Implement strategies outlined within the pupil's EHCP
  • Support learning, communication and emotional development
  • Promote positive behaviour and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals
  • Monitor progress and contribute to pupil reviews

Qualifications / Experience

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND is desirable
  • Experience working within a primary school is advantageous
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service
  • Right to work in the UK
