Are you an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding one-to-one role where you can make a genuine difference every day? Teach Now is recruiting a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil with autism and severe dyspraxia in a welcoming and nurturing primary school in Hertsmere. This full-time position begins in September 2026 and offers the opportunity to provide consistent support throughout the academic year as the pupil prepares for the important transition to secondary school.

This role is ideal for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning while building confidence and independence.

The Role

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCo, you will provide tailored one-to-one support throughout the school day, ensuring the pupil is fully included in all aspects of school life.
  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support in lessons and during transitions around the school
  • Using structured routines, visual strategies and personalised approaches to support learning
  • Assisting with organisation, motor skills and classroom participation
  • Encouraging independence, resilience and positive social interactions
  • Supporting emotional wellbeing and promoting confidence
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals to monitor progress
  • Upholding safeguarding, inclusion and the schools high expectations for every pupil

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience supporting children with autism, dyspraxia or other additional needs (preferred)
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to build a positive, trusting relationship with one child
  • A genuine passion for inclusive education and SEND
  • A commitment to the role for the full academic year to provide continuity and stability
