Nursery Practitioner (Level 3 Preferred) – Maternity Cover
Contract: Full Time, Temporary (Maternity Cover)
Working Pattern: Year-Round Role – 48 Weeks
Shifts: 9:00am–5:00pm or 10:00am–6:00pm
Teach Now Recruitment is delighted to be working with a vibrant, well-established nursery in Haringey to recruit an experienced Nursery Practitioner for a maternity cover role starting March 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy, welcoming nursery set within a richly diverse community, where children are supported to flourish in a safe, happy and stimulating environment.
About the Nursery
- Provision for children aged 1–5 years
- A strong, enthusiastic and supportive Early Years team
- Large outdoor areas allocated to each room, accessed daily
- A focus on high-quality EYFS practice, inclusion and child-centred learning
The role will primarily be based in the preschool room (ages 3–4), with occasional support in the 2–3 year old room if required. With up to 45 children in the room, this position suits an experienced practitioner who is confident, organised and able to hit the ground running.
The Role
As a Nursery Practitioner, you will:
- Support children’s learning and development in line with the EYFS framework
- Create a safe, engaging and stimulating learning environment
- Build strong, positive relationships with children, colleagues and parents
- Support personal care, routines and transitions throughout the day
- Use initiative to support learning activities and daily nursery routines
- Work effectively as part of a busy team while remaining confident working independently
- Promote children’s emotional wellbeing, confidence and independence
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Ideally holds a Level 3 Early Years qualification (or equivalent)
- Has strong experience working within a nursery or early years setting
- Is adaptable, proactive and able to self-start
- Learns quickly and responds positively in a fast-paced environment
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Is confident managing group routines in a large preschool room
Trial & Interview Process
- Suitable candidates will be invited in for a morning trial
- Successful candidates will then be invited back for a paid full shift trial
- The nursery is keen to meet candidates ASAP, so early applications are encouraged.
