An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious Head of MFL to join a highly regarded secondary school in Brentwood from September 2026. This large and successful 11‐18 school is recognised for its strong academic standards, excellent facilities and supportive staff culture. The successful candidate will lead a dedicated MFL department and play a key role in driving outstanding teaching, learning and student achievement across the school.

This role is ideal for an experienced MFL teacher ready to take the next step into leadership, or an established middle leader seeking a new challenge within a high‐performing and well‐supported environment.

As Head of MFL, you will:

  • Lead and develop the MFL department across KS3–KS5
  • Promote high standards of teaching, learning and achievement
  • Support and develop departmental staff through coaching and mentoring
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise attainment
  • Lead curriculum development and ensure an engaging, inclusive learning experience
  • Contribute to enrichment opportunities, trips and extracurricular activities
  • Work closely with senior leaders to drive departmental improvement

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Have strong experience teaching MFL at secondary level
  • Demonstrate successful leadership or middle leadership experience
  • Be passionate about languages and student achievement
  • Have excellent communication, organisation and team leadership skills
  • Be committed to maintaining high expectations and an inclusive learning environment
