Year 5 Class Teacher – Part-Time Job Share Location: Barnet, North London Salary: £40,372–£59,864 per annum (M1–UPS3), paid to scale and pro rata Contract: Part-time, temporary – January to July 2027 Days: Monday to Wednesday Hours: 8:15am–4:00pm, term time only Start Date: January 2027 Teach Now is seeking an organised and enthusiastic Year 5 Class Teacher for a three-day-a-week job share at a warm and welcoming independent Jewish day school in Barnet. You will teach a well-behaved class of 24 pupils who respond positively to clear routines, firm boundaries and well-paced lessons. The role offers an excellent work-life balance, substantial non-contact time and the support of an approachable Deputy Headteacher, who will be your job-share partner. The Role As the Year 5 Class Teacher, you will: Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured KS2 lessons. Share responsibility for English and Maths planning across the week. Take responsibility for planning three additional curriculum subjects. Assess pupils progress and provide clear, purposeful feedback. Maintain consistent expectations across both sides of the job share. Work collaboratively with the Deputy Headteacher and supporting staff. Build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and families. A strong bank of existing planning is available and can be adapted to suit your teaching style and the needs of the class. The school also follows a practical feedback approach, including live marking in Maths and focused corrections in English. About You The ideal Year 5 Class Teacher will: Hold UK-recognised Qualified Teacher Status. Have experience teaching within KS2. Be organised, reliable and comfortable working collaboratively. Deliver lessons with clear structure, pace and appropriate challenge. Be warm and approachable while maintaining strong classroom expectations.
