Early Career Teacher (Film & Media)

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a passionate and driven Early Career Teacher (ECT) of Film & Media to join a high-performing, state-funded secondary school in New Barnet, London. The school is rated “Good” by Ofsted and is known for its strong academic outcomes, supportive environment, and commitment to student success.

You will join a thriving Creative Arts faculty, teaching motivated and high-attaining students who take pride in their work and value their education. This role offers the chance to deliver engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3–5, supporting students in both the analytical and creative aspects of Film & Media.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality Film & Media lessons that inspire, challenge, and engage learners.
• Prepare students effectively for GCSE and A-Level examinations, maintaining a strong focus on academic rigour.
• Encourage critical analysis of media texts alongside the development of practical production skills.
• Foster creativity, independent learning, and strong analytical thinking.
• Contribute to curriculum development within a well-established department.
• Monitor, assess, and track student progress to ensure all learners achieve their full potential.
• Build strong relationships with parents and carers who hold high expectations for academic achievement.

The Ideal Candidate

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or is working towards it (ECTs are strongly encouraged to apply).
• Has a strong academic background in Film, Media, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrates the ability or clear potential to teach at KS4 and KS5.
• Is resilient, organised, and confident in a high-expectation environment.
• Possesses excellent communication skills, particularly when engaging with ambitious and supportive families.
• Is committed to supporting the values and ethos of a Jewish faith school (no requirement to be Jewish).
