Teach Now is seeking a caring, proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join the autism (ASC) resource base/PSRP at a high-achieving Jewish faith secondary school in Barnet (ages 11–18). You’ll support autistic learners with a range of communication profiles and complex needs across KS3 and KS5, providing 1:1 and small-group support and helping students integrate into selected mainstream lessons.

The school welcomes staff of all faiths and none.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver high-quality 1:1 and small-group support in the PSRP and selected mainstream classes
  • Implement ILPs/EHCP targets, communication and regulation strategies
  • Promote independence, social communication and positive behaviour
  • Work closely with teachers, therapists and parents; contribute to reviews

About you

  • Experience supporting autistic pupils and/or complex needs (secondary preferred)
  • Calm, patient communicator who builds strong relationships
  • Familiar with (or keen to learn) visual supports, structured routines, de-escalation
  • Right to work in the UK; willing to complete an enhanced DBS; two references
  • Desirable: Training in PECS/communication systems, TEACCH-style organisation, Team-Teach/positive handling, and knowledge of EHCP processes.
