Secondary English Teacher  Location: Barnet, North London Contract: Full-time, Long-term Temporary Start Date: 8 September 2026 Salary: £40,372–£59,864 per annum (M1–UPS3) Email: About the Role Teach Now is recruiting an engaging and knowledgeable English Teacher for a secondary school in Barnet from September. The English department is looking for a teacher who can inspire students to become confident readers, writers and critical thinkers. You will predominantly teach across KS3 and KS4, delivering a broad curriculum covering literature, language, creative writing and analytical skills. The role would suit a teacher who combines secure subject knowledge with strong classroom management and knows how to make challenging texts accessible and relevant to a wide range of learners. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across KS3 and KS4. Prepare students effectively for GCSE English Language and Literature. Develop students’ reading, writing and analytical skills. Use assessment data to identify gaps and plan appropriate intervention. Provide clear and constructive feedback. Differentiate effectively for SEND, EAL and higher-attaining students. Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom routines. Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Degree or strong academic background in English or a closely related subject. Experience teaching English within a UK secondary school. Strong understanding of the KS3 and GCSE English curriculum. Confident behaviour-management skills. Commitment to raising achievement for pupils of all abilities.
