Teach Now is recruiting an accomplished Chemistry Teacher for a successful secondary school in Barnet. The school is seeking a subject specialist capable of delivering engaging and academically rigorous Chemistry across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to teach KS5 depending on experience.

The Opportunity

As Chemistry Teacher, you will:

  • Plan and teach high-quality Chemistry lessons
  • Deliver the science curriculum across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach GCSE Chemistry as part of combined and/or separate sciences
  • Potentially teach A-level Chemistry where appropriate
  • Plan safe and purposeful practical investigations
  • Assess pupils accurately and use assessment to address misconceptions
  • Provide intervention and targeted support for pupils who need additional help
  • Stretch high-attaining students and encourage interest in STEM pathways
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort and academic achievement
  • Contribute to department planning, moderation and curriculum development
  • Work collaboratively with technicians and other science teachers

About You

Applicants should have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status or an equivalent formally recognised teaching qualification
  • A degree in Chemistry or a closely related discipline
  • Strong Chemistry subject knowledge
  • Experience teaching secondary science in a UK school
  • Experience delivering GCSE Chemistry
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour-management skills
  • A sound understanding of assessment and examination requirements
  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
  • The right to work in the UK
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Two satisfactory professional references
  • A-level teaching experience would be particularly welcome but is not essential for every applicant.
