This is a varied, hands on role for a reliable professional who can take ownership of the premises and ensure the school remains safe, compliant and well maintained.
Responsibilities
- Oversee site maintenance, security, cleaning and presentation.
- Complete minor repairs and arrange larger maintenance work.
- Manage opening, closing, keys and alarm systems.
- Conduct health and safety checks, risk assessments and inspections.
- Monitor fire safety systems and statutory compliance.
- Coordinate contractors and external suppliers.
- Maintain accurate premises and compliance records.
- Prepare rooms and equipment for school activities.
- Respond promptly to urgent maintenance or security issues.
- Liaise with senior leaders regarding site priorities and budgets.
Requirements
- Experience as a Premises Manager, Site Manager, Caretaker or Facilities Manager.
- Practical maintenance and basic DIY skills.
- Knowledge of health and safety and site compliance.
- Confidence managing contractors and prioritising work.
- Strong organisation and communication skills.
- A proactive, dependable and professional approach.
- A commitment to safeguarding pupils and staff.
School based premises experience is highly desirable.
