About the Role
As the Nursery Chef you will prepare fresh, balanced meals and snacks for babies and young children while maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety. You will work closely with nursery staff to meet dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences, helping to create positive mealtime experiences for every child.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing fresh, healthy meals and snacks daily
- Planning nutritious menus in line with children’s dietary needs
- Providing catering for allergies, intolerances and cultural requirements
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards
- Managing stock, food orders and inventory
- Completing temperature checks, kitchen records and cleaning schedules
- Ensuring compliance with Food Safety and Environmental Health regulations
- Promoting healthy eating habits within the nursery
Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience as a Chef, Cook or Kitchen Assistant
- Food Hygiene Level 2 Certificate (Level 3 desirable)
- Good knowledge of food safety, allergies and nutrition
- Organised, reliable and able to work independently
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in a nursery, school or childcare setting
- Understanding of children’s nutritional requirements
- Experience catering for specialist diets and allergies
- First Aid awareness
