SEND Teaching Assistant – Primary School Location: Hertfordshire Pay: Β£101.50–£105 per day Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary Start date: 21 September 2026

You will join a collaborative team, working closely with class teachers, the SENCo and external specialists to deliver personalised support.

  • Your responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support, adapting activities to pupils needs.
  • Follow EHCPs, individual support plans and behaviour strategies.
  • Support emotional regulation, communication, sensory needs and social skills.
  • Use visual timetables, now-and-next boards and other personalised resources.
  • Help pupils manage transitions and less structured times, including breaktimes.
  • Monitor progress and share observations with teachers and the SENCo.
  • What were looking for
  • Experience supporting primary-aged children with SEND, particularly autism, SEMH or complex needs.
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour and emotional support.
  • Strong communication skills and the flexibility to work across year groups.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
  • A relevant Teaching Assistant or childcare qualification is desirable.
