A welcoming school in Hertfordshire is looking for an experienced Head of Pre-Prep to provide leadership, stability and direction during a period of staff absence. This role would suit an experienced Early Years Leader, Deputy Head, Assistant Head, Headteacher or current Head of Pre-Prep who can make an immediate and positive impact.
The Role
- Provide visible, supportive leadership across the department, ensuring children continue to receive excellent teaching, care and pastoral support.
- Lead the smooth day-to-day running of the Pre-Prep.
- Motivate, support and develop teaching and support staff.
- Maintain high standards across the EYFS and Pre-Prep curriculum.
- Monitor teaching, learning, pupil progress and wellbeing.
- Promote positive behaviour and excellent pastoral care.
- Build strong relationships with children, staff and parents.
- Maintain the highest safeguarding and child-protection standards.
- Provide continuity for pupils, families and colleagues.
- Contribute to wider school leadership and improvement.
About You
- Significant Early Years or Pre-Prep experience.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- A strong understanding of the EYFS.
- Previous experience leading and supporting staff.
- High expectations for teaching, learning and pupil care.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The confidence to make sound professional decisions.
- A warm, nurturing and child-centred approach.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
