SEN Teaching Assistant (ASD) – Full‑time Temporary (Long‑term) – Croydon, London – £92.56 – £105 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications). Start date: 01/09/2026.
About the Role
Teach Now is seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a vibrant Croydon primary school.
You will work closely with individual pupils and small groups to help them access learning, develop communication skills and build confidence throughout the school day, supporting their progress and well‑being.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils with ASD during lessons and structured activities.
- Adapt learning resources to meet individual needs.
- Promote communication, independence and social development.
- Implement EHCP targets alongside teaching staff.
- Use visual timetables and structured routines where appropriate.
- Encourage positive behaviour and engagement.
- Liaise effectively with teachers, parents and the SEN team.
Requirements
- Experience supporting children with Autism or additional learning needs.
- Understanding of autism‑friendly strategies and inclusive practice.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, adaptable and positive attitude.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
