SEN Learning Support Assistant – Camden Salary: £101.10–£110 per day Contract: Full-time, long-term temporary Location: Camden, London Start date: 30 September 2026 Are you an experienced SEN Learning Support Assistant with the confidence and resilience to support challenging behaviour? A Pupil Referral Unit in Camden is seeking a calm, consistent professional to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil with autism and significant behavioural needs.

The Role

As an SEN Learning Support Assistant, you will help the pupil manage his emotions, engage with learning and make positive progress.

  • Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
  • Identifying triggers and using preventative strategies
  • Managing refusal, defiance and emotional dysregulation
  • De‑escalating potentially aggressive or disruptive behaviour
  • Helping the pupil regulate and return to learning
  • Maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations
  • Following behaviour plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and the pastoral team

About You

This role requires previous experience supporting children or young people with challenging behaviour. Experience within a PRU, alternative provision, SEMH school, SEN setting, youth service or challenging mainstream environment would be highly valued.

The successful SEN Learning Support Assistant will be:

  • Calm, confident and emotionally resilient
  • Skilled in behaviour management and de‑escalation
  • Consistent when maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Patient, observant and committed to safeguarding
  • Reliable and able to build positive relationships

Experience supporting autism, ADHD, SEMH or emotional‑regulation needs is desirable. Team Teach, MAPA, PRICE, CPI or similar training would be an advantage. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, is required.
