Maidwell Primary School is a small village primary school at the heart of a close-knit and supportive community in Northamptonshire. Our pupils are enthusiastic learners, our parents are highly engaged, and the school benefits from strong, positive relationships between home and school.
The Governing Body of Maidwell Primary School is seeking to appoint a Teaching Head to join our outstanding village school, where every child is supported to fulfil their unique potential. This role includes a two-day teaching commitment and is ideal for an ambitious leader who is excited by the challenge of leading a school while remaining actively engaged in classroom practice.
Governors are immensely proud of Maidwell Primary School and recognise that appointing the right leader—one who shares our vision and values—is essential to sustaining our success as a high-achieving school. Our dedicated staff have created a nurturing and stimulating environment in which children are inspired, enthusiastic learners with a positive approach to their own development.
We are committed to delivering a broad and balanced curriculum and providing the highest quality education through inspirational teaching and learning, enabling every pupil to excel. Embracing the small-school ethos, our experienced and enthusiastic staff know every child well and work closely with parents, offering regular opportunities throughout the year to engage with learning and support their children at home.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a school that has been consistently rated highly by Ofsted, has seen steady growth year on year, and where strong ethos and effective teaching practices are firmly embedded. We are seeking a candidate who can confidently build upon these strong foundations.
Our most recent Ofsted inspection (January 2025) was extremely positive and took place during a challenging period in education, further highlighting the strength, resilience, and consistency of our school. Collaboration is vital for a small school, and Maidwell Primary is currently developing a strong partnership with two other local schools. We are keen for this collaborative work to continue and grow, as the benefits for both pupils and staff are already evident.
Our new Headteacher will:
- Be an inspirational and outstanding practitioner who communicates the vision for Maidwell Primary School through both word and example.
- Demonstrate passion and commitment in leading the school, while remaining equally enthusiastic and highly effective within the classroom.
- Show a willingness to engage in collaboration with local schools at leadership level and actively facilitate collaborative working across all levels of the school.
- Demonstrate a deep and secure understanding of best practice in teaching and learning.
- Expertly manage, coach and mentor staff to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, provision, pastoral care, pupil outcomes and targeted intervention.
- Play a leading role in the implementation and evaluation of the curriculum.
- Have strong knowledge and understanding of how best to support children with SEND and their families.
- Sustain an inclusive and equitable environment that places equality and inclusion at the heart of everything we do, supporting the needs of all learners and staff.
Our new Headteacher will be joining a strong, passionate and friendly team. We aim to appoint a Headteacher who will take up post at the start of the new academic year in September 2026.
