The role involves creating a creative, supportive and motivating classroom as an engaging teacher with a passion for music. You’ll inspire and challenge your students so that they develop into confident musicians and achieve their individual potential. Your love of teaching will extend beyond the classroom into our enrichment programme: running weekly rehearsals and organising performance opportunities will give you the chance to spend more time making music alongside the students and to embed the culture of musical engagement across the academy.
This is an outstanding opportunity to join a successful academy driven by a forward-thinking philosophy and a vibrant, positive culture. In a friendly and welcoming school, with supportive colleagues, you’ll be able to make a real impact on our academy, and on the lives of our students.
Our music department is well-resourced with a large collection of orchestral and pop instruments; we have a class set of keyboards, djembe drums and ukuleles and also a full set of steel pan drums. Our three main classrooms are varied and suitable for different activities and are complemented by 5 purpose-built practice room spaces, each with instruments. We have a fully equipped recording studio, as well as two mac suites with Logic Pro and Sibelius 7. The technology in the theatre is also of a high standard, meaning performances can be produced to a very good level, and enhanced effectively by lighting and visuals.
About You: You’re an inspirational practitioner, knowledgeable regarding the curriculum, and have the energy and positivity to help our students to achieve. Pro-active, flexible and enthusiastic, you bring the innovation and commitment to teach Music across all key stages.
