If you want to help answer these questions and turn your ideas into real-world impact, this could be the role for you. T&E (Transport & Environment) UK is looking for a Vehicles Policy Officer to help lead our work on the future of vehicles and road transport in the UK.

This role will shape and influence national government policies aimed at cutting emissions from cars, vans, and trucks in the UK. You’ll work on advancing vehicle electrification, phasing out polluting fuels, and promoting cleaner freight solutions. You will join a small, highly motivated UK team and collaborate closely with T&E’s Europe-wide experts in vehicles, freight, energy, and sustainable mobility. You’ll play a key role in developing and executing advocacy strategies, developing robust and data-led policy positions, and engaging with UK decision makers and industry players to steer the transition to clean road transport.

About Us

We combine the power of robust evidence and a deep understanding of the transport sector with compelling communications and impactful advocacy. The successful candidate will meet all of the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience working on technical or policy issues in the environmental, energy, or transport sectors.
  • A strong understanding of what makes an effective advocacy strategy.
  • The ability to think and act with initiative, and to influence senior policy-makers, industry representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong experience in multi-stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to work effectively in teams and deliver to tight deadlines.

The successful candidate should have:

  • Good knowledge of current UK transport policy, particularly in relation to vehicle decarbonization.
  • A personal commitment to sustainable transport and the mission of Transport & Environment.
  • The ability to speak at least one other EU language is considered a bonus.
