We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of ESOL to join our team commencing Term 1 2027.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a small team at Hillmorton High School. It is a part-time, permanent position, supporting high-quality teaching and learning within our ESOL programme.
This role offers the opportunity to work in asupportive and collaborative school environment, with a strong focus on professional practice and student success.
About you
The successful applicant will be able to teach ESOL across a range of year levels and proficiency stages, with the ability to engage and motivate students through well-planned, inclusive, and effective classroom practice. Experience teaching within the NCEA framework and a relevant specialist qualification in TESOL/ESL (or equivalent) is preferred.
We are seeking a reflective and student-focused teacher who demonstrates strong curriculum knowledge and effective classroom management. The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and whānau is essential.
A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the understanding and ability to teach using culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential.
The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher and also be willing to commit to our co-curricular programme.

Hillmorton High School is a diverse urban co-educational school situated in the South-West of Christchurch.
The school is a fast growing Year 7–13 school with dedicated middle and senior schools. We have a roll of around 1,400 and with further building works underway, the roll is expected to increase in the next few years. We provide students with a caring and supportive environment, to help them achieve academic excellence, leadership skills and a love of learning.
