Job Overview

TE Connectivity’s Engineering Project Management Teams manage cross functional engineering projects. They work with Product Management, Sales, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, and other functions across TE to assure projects meet financial, schedule and customer expectations. They are responsible for defining and creating project schedules, portfolio management, communication and execution of programs, identifying resource constraints and working with management for resolution, while adhering to LeanPD processes.

The Aerospace Defense and Marine (ADM) Business Unit (BU) focuses on the development and continued sustaining of product in the field of power and communications connectivity.

Position Scope and Responsibilities

The Product Environmental Compliance Manager reports directly to the Director CTO Excellence for the Business unit and is a member of the CTO Excellence Leadership team.
The main areas of responsibility covered by the role are:
• Ownership of Product & Environmental Compliance (PEC) ensuring ADM maintains all essential levels of regulatory compliance,
• Design for Sustainability (DfS) leadership supporting TEs commitment to reduce it’s product carbon footprint impact through a focus on Scope 3 emissions.

TE follows a SET (Strategy, Execution and Talent) Framework and the following describes the detailed responsibilities of the role (note that this list is not exhaustive and may omit additional related responsibilities):

Strategy
The postholder will:
• Be the PEC and DfS Champion and Subject Matter Expert (SME) for their BU,
• Maintain awareness and foresight to new, pending, or revised PEC legislation relevant to the BU and their products,
• Develop a PEC strategy to ensure BU readiness to react to changing/new regulations,
• Drive adherence and implementation of TE PEC policies and legislative requirements
• Represent the BU on the corporate Product Compliance Council (PCC) and Lead the BU PCC,
• Develop a DfS Strategy to ensure sustainability in design choices to meet corporate sustainability targets,
• Develop processes to ensure DfS methods are embedded in New Product Introduction and Sustaining activities
• Drive continuous improvement of role related processes and capabilities.

Execution
The postholder will:
• Provide Training on all matters related to PEC and Sustainability to individuals and groups within the BU,
• Work with cross functional teams to create plans to react to changing/new regulations and to meet PEC and Sustainability targets,
• Drive progress and hold the business accountable for execution of PEC and DfS plans,
• Ensure governance over NPD/NPI/Sustaining Projects to protect,
• Provide regular reports detailing BU performance and progress to targets and notices of regulation introduction/change,
• Support strategic corporate projects related to PEC and Sustainability,
• Ensure efficacy of BU PEC responsibilities and data management in the BU,
• Co-ordinate with internal organisations to ensure BU customer requests are supported effectively,
• Respond to detailed customer requests for PEC Information on BU product; Manage internal requests related to PEC,
• Support BU PEC and DfS annual target setting.

Talent
The postholder will:
• Develop a succession plan for their role.
• Improve understanding and effectiveness of Employees involved with PEC topics through training, guiding, coaching.
• Communicate widely and effectively to multiple levels/functions within the BU.
• Advise, guide, and educate colleagues across their BU so they understand relevant global legislation, how TE implements it, and what is needed for compliance.
• Build awareness within the various BU departments and act as a Champion for decisions which benefit the global environment.
• Devise and deliver training in support of PEC and Sustainability topics.

What your background should look like:

• 10+ years subject matter expertise in PEC with experience developing the infrastructure needed to support business compliance,
• A Degree in Science or Engineering is an advantage but not essential, if relevant work experience has been completed,
• Historic employment in a product development environment with preference given to regulated industry experience,
• Knowledge of European and Global Safety Directives
• Understanding of purchasing and shipping methods as they relate to environmental and regulatory concerns,
• Experience of materials found in connectivity related products (or comparable alternative) and the requirements to use restricted materials and development of suitable mechanisms to track usage,
• Industry standard software related to PEC,
• Basic understanding of Manufacturing processes is an advantage,
• Understanding of Sustainability and specifically Scope 3 Emissions is advantageous.
• Proficiency in standard reporting/presentation and data analysis tools,
• Experience in Six Sigma and Lean methodologies desirable,
• Strong general IT skills.
