Functional Job Family Description
- Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost‑effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials.
- Focuses resources on continuous improvement of the movement of materials through various production processes and establishes key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning/forecasting to measure actual performance against goals on a regular basis.
- Ensures the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at minimum acceptable levels.
- Responsible for sourcing and supplying raw materials.
- Coordinates and integrates the flow of materials and information among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and customers.
- Identifies and recommends opportunities for improving efficiency, effectiveness and capabilities of the supply chain.
Role Summary
- Responsible for global, end-to-end supply planning and optimization across assigned value stream, integrating demand, supply, capacity, and inventory strategies across multiple sites and regions.
- Owns development of global supply plans, scenario modeling, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure customer commitments are met while optimizing cost, service, and working capital.
- Operates at an enterprise level, influencing planning, procurement, manufacturing, and logistics through advanced analytics, planning systems, and cross‑functional collaboration to enable supply chain resilience and agility.
- Lead development and execution of fully integrated global supply plans for assigned value stream.
- Balance global supply and demand, optimizing production footprints for flexibility and cost efficiency.
- Anticipate material, capacity, and supply risks; enable proactive scenario planning and mitigation.
- Define global inventory strategies, replenishment models, and safety stock parameters.
- Manage global capacity planning aligned to customer commitments and business priorities.
- Lead supply chain optimization initiatives including make‑versus‑buy and footprint decisions.
- Coordinate across global planning, procurement, manufacturing, and logistics teams.
- Support product lifecycle transitions through integrated planning strategies.
- Strong expertise with ERP and advanced planning systems (SAP APO/IBP or equivalent).
- Translate complex planning scenarios into executive‑ready insights.
Experience
- 7+ years of progressive experience in global supply planning, production planning, or materials management.
Competencies & Skills
- Demonstrated experience in multi‑site and multi‑region planning environments.
- Strong influence skills in matrix organizations without direct authority.
- Advanced experience in supply‑demand balancing, capacity planning, and inventory optimization.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional Training & Certifications: APICS CPIM / CSCP preferred; Lean Six Sigma certification a plus.
