TE Connectivity is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join the R&D Product Development Engineering team in Hastings. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on both new product development and support of existing connector product lines including Autosport and commercial aviation.
Responsibilities
- Create solid models, 2D and 3D drawings, specifications and documentation
- Maintain BOMs and product data within SAP
- Ensure designs are suitable for manufacture and work closely with production teams
- Contribute to product qualification, validation and verification activities
- Support prototype builds and testing
- Take part in technical reviews, design reviews and root cause analysis
- Provide support for existing product lines including improvements and cost reduction
- Apply design tools such as DFM, DFMEA and DFSS
- Follow internal engineering processes and industry standards
- Manage your workload independently and prioritise tasks effectively
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering tools, processes and best practices
- Carry out additional tasks as required by the business
Qualifications
- Experience in product development or design engineering within mechanical, electromechanical or precision engineered products
- Ability to produce solid models, 2D and 3D drawings, specifications and documentation
- Confident using CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Creo
- Strong understanding of design for manufacture and collaboration with production teams
- Experience with engineering tools such as DFMEA, DFM, DFSS or equivalent methods
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Organised, methodical and able to manage competing priorities
- Clear written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving skills with a focus on practical delivery
- HNC, HND or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering or a related field
- Experience of continuous improvement methods such as LEAN or Six Sigma is helpful
- Knowledge of EMC, filtering or electrical engineering is an advantage
- Interest in motorsport or high performance engineering is desirable
