Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced MQ Engineer to join our new Moulding facility & team in Swindon, UK. This role is responsible for supporting quality assurance across the product development lifecycle, with a focus on ensuring compliance with customer & internal requirements. The successful candidate will lead RC investigations & implement CAPA in response to customer complaints & field returns. They will also support supplier quality activities, including the evaluation & resolution of non-conformances from both internal & external sources. The candidate should have experience of manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, tooling, assembly & process validation, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends & drive sustainable improvements. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, & supply chain teams, as well as direct communication with customers to ensure timely & effective resolution of quality issues.

Your new role:

  • Act as the lead contact for Notices of Escape (NOE), escalated customer issues, high-impact quality concerns, and customer improvement programmes.
  • Evaluate, implement, and ensure compliance with customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Monitor customer quality performance, driving improvements in complaint reduction, response times, and 8D effectiveness.
  • Communicate customer expectations across functions and sites, ensuring alignment and compliance.
  • Deliver quality training, guidance, and support to promote awareness and adherence to customer requirements.
  • Lead customer negotiations relating to quality deviations and concessions, ensuring appropriate approvals and documentation.
  • Manage customer complaints through a structured, collaborative, cross-functional approach.
  • Drive effective 8D investigations, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, preventive actions, and validation of effectiveness.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of customer complaint responses and 8D reports.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality procedures, standards, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Establish and embed best-practice quality systems and controls to support operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to improve process capability, reduce variation, minimise scrap, and enhance manufacturing performance.
  • Support customer, certification body, and internal audit activities.
  • Ensure timely closure of audit findings, non-conformances, and continuous improvement actions.
  • Coordinate First Article Inspection (FAI) and capability study activities, including preparation of final reports.
  • Provide quality support throughout New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, from implementation through to product approval.
  • Lead or support change management activities, ensuring compliance with quality and business requirements.
  • Promote a zero-defect culture through the application of Lean methodologies, PFMEA, Poka-Yoke, APQP, Measurement System Analysis, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Champion TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report quality KPIs to support business and customer objectives.
  • Develop and deliver mandatory and site‑specific quality training programmes.
  • Collaborate with Incoming Quality Engineers (IQE) and Supplier Development Engineers (SDE) to address supplier quality issues.
  • Coordinate the inspection, containment, and resolution of non‑conforming supplied materials and components.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties required to support business objectives.

Your ideal background:

Degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience within a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in a Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing role within aerospace, automotive, defence, military, or other regulated manufacturing sectors.
  • Strong understanding of plastics processing, injection moulding, tooling, assembly, or similar high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of moulding defect mechanisms, process optimisation, process validation, and manufacturing quality controls.
  • Technically minded with a practical, hands‑on approach to problem solving and process improvement.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems is desirable.
  • Experience applying quality tools and methodologies, including Histograms, Pareto Analysis, Measurement System Analysis (MSA), PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with experience using 8D methodology, 5 Why analysis, Is/Is Not analysis, and Ishikawa (Fishbone) techniques.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, and/or IATF 16949 quality management systems.
  • Experience conducting process, product, and quality system audits, and driving compliance activities.
  • Familiarity with product and process validation activities, including FAI, PPAP, and APQP.
  • Ability to influence, engage, and collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with experience working across different functions, sites, and cultural environments.
  • Highly organised and self‑motivated, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs.
  • Results‑driven with a proactive approach to delivering improvements and meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
