Why you should join us
As a Development Engineer, you will primarily work in polymer-materials formulations, optimizing existing products and processes. You will interact with operations, development engineers, or other relevant personnel to achieve this. Additionally, you will be involved in reformulating existing compounds, driven by both external factors such as market demands and internal factors such as the desire to enhance process efficiency, increase performance, or reduce production costs.
New Product Developments (NPD) present an ongoing opportunity to create novel compounds that support the ever-evolving markets we serve. In this capacity, the Development Engineer will lead these activities. Collaborating closely with the broader organization, you’ll adhere to strict design processes while ensuring budget constraints are met and on-time delivery for all engineering elements.
Additionally, you’ll be responsible for providing timely progress updates to relevant teams and working with global teams, both internal and external within the EMEA region (some travel may be required). Accurate record-keeping, professional report writing, and the ability to interpret technical information are essential skills for this role.
Your ideal background
- Define engineering changes to ensure EPS compounds remain compliant with the latest RoHS, REACH and other relevant standards whilst maintaining performance.
- Define and develop the next generation of products and compounds expected to be needed to support the next generation of market need.
- Responsible for presenting impact of change to the team with costs, lead-times, & forecast impact dates.
- Product change management and its implementation in business systems including participation in management meetings and similar.
- Carry out assigned tasks by the Manager / Senior Manager.
- Hold a qualification in an engineering materials-science subject (polymer-engineering or similar).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrate situational flexibility and teamwork.
- Practical mind-set with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
- Good organizational skills.
