Job Overview: Diagnoses problems and performs maintenance of complex equipment; ensures specific manufacturing behaviours are in line with practice and operation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the process leader for the machine shop to ensure operations run at optimum levels for quality and productivity.
- Provide day-to-day technical support to resolve production challenges, minimise downtime, and maintain stable operations.
- Optimize and standardise manufacturing processes across the plant.
- Align TE Business Unit plants with TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements.
- Roll out Centre of Excellence (CoE) initiatives and implement Best Demonstrated Practices (BDPs).
- Advise on tooling and machine duplication, corrections, and improvements.
- Design and develop manufacturing process platforms and automation solutions.
- Apply developed platforms for new product introductions and optimisation of existing products.
- Demonstrate proficiency in TE systems such as SAP, TLM, and CAD.
- Support product development teams in selecting and optimising tools for piece-part production.
- Act as a key interface between engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturability and smooth ramp-up of new designs.
- Drive productivity improvements, reduce downtime, and enhance Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
- Focus on First Time Right (FTR) to accelerate time-to-market for new and existing processes.
- Develop machine setup guides, work centre instructions, vision systems, and process FMEAs.
- Mentor junior engineers, lead cross-functional teams, and collaborate with management to align manufacturing strategies with business objectives.
What your background should look like:
- Education: HNC or Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience in CNC machining.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and quality control methodologies.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations such as ISO 9001, GMP, and OSHA.
- Familiarity with quality control tools including FMEAs, run charts, and first article inspections.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
- Understanding of Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) concepts and improvement strategies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to apply engineering principles to complex challenges.
- Strong communication skills to interface between engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Experience supporting product development and ensuring manufacturability.
