In 2022 we launched the New Homes Ombudsman Service. We are collaborative and forward-thinking with our colleagues and customers at the heart of everything we do. With our proven success, it is necessary to expand our team to ensure the services we offer continue to make a difference. We have a new opportunity within our NHOS team to join them as a Business Support Officer. This is a permanent, full-time position that will be based in our TDS office in Hemel Hempstead and will follow our hybrid working policy of a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. The salary for this position is £31,000 per annum.
Some of the key responsibilities include:
- Oversee decision and action logs, ensuring clear ownership, agreed deadlines and timely follow-up.
- Draft, format and quality-check correspondence, briefings, papers and presentations to ensure a consistent and professional standard.
- Coordinate governance cycles (Board and committee meetings), including timetables, compilation of meeting packs, document control and distribution.
- Maintain key organisational trackers and registers (e.g. action logs, decision logs, policies and procedures register, delegated authorities tracker).
- Produce regular performance reports (weekly and monthly) to support oversight of service delivery, including volumes, timeliness, throughput, backlogs and operational health indicators (scope to be agreed).
- Support the creation and maintenance of dashboards and management information, primarily using Excel and other tools where available.
- Support the development and tracking of key initiatives by maintaining project plans, action logs, RAID logs (risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies) and status updates.
To be considered for this opportunity you must:
- Demonstrate strong organisational and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
- Show a high level of attention to detail, particularly in relation to minutes, papers, document control and data handling.
- Be confident using Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and SharePoint) and be willing to learn new systems quickly.
- Be able to work with data, including undertaking basic analysis, sense-checking information and presenting it clearly through tables, charts or dashboards.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both in writing (e.g. drafting emails, short papers and briefing notes) and verbally.
- Have experience (including internships or placements) within an operations, business support, governance, policy, project support or analytics environment.
