Automatic and Industrial Door Engineer
Location: Reading
Salary: up to £24 per hour, based on experience, plus a lucrative commission scheme.
Responsibilities- Servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of automatic doors (70%) and industrial doors (30%).
- Fault finding on electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment.
- Basic electrical wiring.
- Adhering to industry standards such as BS EN 16005 and DHF.
- Providing customers with advice and identifying the best solutions to their individual requirements.
- Installing new doors where required.
- Experience working for an EN 16005 recognised automatic door company.
- Experience servicing, maintaining, and repairing a wide range of automatic door systems.
- Valid EN 16005 certificate, or previously held one.
- CSCS Card.
- 70% Automatic Doors
- 25% Industrial Doors
- 5% Gates/Barriers
- Primarily service, maintenance, and repair with occasional installs (1–2 per month).
- Hourly rate up to £24 per hour depending on experience and location.
- Top earners can bring in over £70,000 per annum.
- Home‑based, door‑to‑door pay.
- Premium overtime rates: 1.5× after 9.5 hours per day; travel time considered overtime.
- Saturday paid at 1.5×, Sunday paid at 2.0×.
- Average annual commission of £3,000.
- All power tools, hand tools, tablet, and a brand new professionally racked company van provided (personal use optional).
- Call‑out rates: £15 per day when on call plus £15 per call plus a minimum of 3 hours double time; if over 3 hours, additional hours paid at double time; £150 per out‑of‑hours call if taken outside the on‑call time.
Engineers will receive training in DHF Gate Diploma, DHF Door Diploma, and IPAF.
