An award-winning, national market leader in the automatic door industry is looking to expand its installation team. Our client’s installation portfolio now includes everything from swing and sliding operators to curved doors and integrated speed lanes, giving experienced installation engineers the opportunity to work across a broader range of entrance technology. The business is expanding its work with major UK retailers and is looking for another engineer to join its installation team.

The Role

You’ll take responsibility for installing entrance automation equipment across retail and commercial environments. Projects include:

  • Automatic swing doors
  • Curved sliding systems
  • Integrated speed lanes

Most assignments are within approximately 60–90 minutes of the Engineer's home address, although the wider territory can stretch from the Midlands through to the North East. Because the company has several depots around the UK, engineers are generally able to return home each evening. Overnight stays are usually around one to three per month. There is also night work available for engineers who want it, attracting time-and-a-half rates between 7:00pm and 7:00am.

About the Company

Our client is an established national entrance automation business supporting large multi-site customers across the UK. Its contract base includes several major supermarket and high-street retailers, with further national contract wins supporting continued installation demand.

Candidate Profile

This opportunity is likely to suit an engineer already working within automatic doors who wants access to varied installation projects and substantial overtime. You’ll need to be comfortable with travel, longer working weeks and occasional stays away. Experience with multiple automatic-door systems would be beneficial, while flexibility around night installations could make you particularly valuable to the existing team.

The successful Automatic Door Installation Engineer will:

  • Be experienced working for an EN 16005 recognised automatic door company
  • Be experienced installing a wide range of automatic door systems
  • Hold a valid EN 16005 certificate, or at least have held one in the past
  • Hold a CSCS Card
  • Have experience in electrical and mechanical fault finding

In return, you will receive a remuneration package which includes:

  • Starting hourly rate of up to £18 per hour depending on experience
  • Pay review after probation and every twelve months
  • Home-based, door to door pay
  • Overtime at 1.5 paid between 7pm – 7am during the week and all hours worked on weekends
  • Overnight projects include company-booked accommodation plus meal, overnight and entertainment allowances totalling £75
  • Efficiency bonus up to £500 per month. Expected efficiency bonus earnings around £4,000 annually
  • 33 days holiday – paid at average working week hours
  • All power tools provided
  • Brand new professionally racked company van
  • Tablet
  • Exciting long term career prospects
  • Expected OTE of £60,000 +
