TDRS Recruitment are supporting a market-leading technical services specialist in the search for a Service Director to oversee and develop their national service operation. The business designs, installs and maintains technically sophisticated solutions across multiple sectors, including commercial, education, healthcare and public-sector environments. Operating nationally through multiple regional offices, they have built an excellent reputation for quality, customer service and long-term client relationships.
With annual turnover of approximately £25m and a Service Division currently generating around £3.5m, the leadership team has identified service as a major growth area and is looking for an experienced leader who can help drive the next phase of development. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of an established operation whilst helping shape its future direction.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly into senior leadership, you will take responsibility for the operational and commercial performance of the Service Division across the UK. You will oversee multiple regional offices and service teams, driving consistency, profitability, customer retention and recurring revenue growth, whilst implementing the structure and systems required to support future expansion. The business has ambitious plans for growth and is looking for someone capable of helping double the size of the Service Division over the next 2-3 years.
Key Responsibilities
- Full P&L ownership for the Service Division
- Lead and develop multiple regional service operations across the UK
- Drive revenue growth, profitability and operational performance
- Increase recurring service revenue and maintained product agreements
- Standardise processes, pricing structures and operational reporting
- Develop KPI frameworks and performance management systems
- Lead the implementation of service management systems and operational improvements
- Support service sales growth and customer retention initiatives
- Build, mentor and develop service management and engineering teams
- Work closely with senior leadership on divisional strategy and future growth plans
- Ensure high standards of customer service, compliance and operational delivery
About You
We are interested in speaking with individuals who have experience leading service operations within a technical, engineering or service-led environment. You will be commercially astute, operationally strong and comfortable taking ownership of both strategy and execution. Experience in any of the following sectors would be advantageous:
- Building products
- Facilities services
- Fire & Security
- Entrance Systems
- Industrial Doors

- Lift & Escalator Industry

- Other engineering-led service environments
Skills
- Proven experience in a senior Service Director, Head of Service, Operations Director or similar leadership role
- Strong commercial awareness and P&L management experience
- Track record of improving operational performance and profitability
- Experience leading multi-site service operations
- Strong leadership and people development capability
- Experience implementing systems, processes and operational improvements
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational involvement
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
