We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to join a well‑established property developer working on high‑quality residential and mixed‑use schemes across the UK. This role will play a key part in securing planning permissions, managing planning risk, and supporting the delivery of complex developments from early feasibility through to determination.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the planning process across multiple residential and mixed‑use developments
- Prepare, submit and manage planning applications, including reserved matters and amendments
- Liaise with local authorities, planning consultants, statutory bodies and stakeholders
- Manage external consultants including planning consultants, architects and technical teams
- Provide planning strategy advice from site acquisition through to delivery
- Support land acquisition by providing planning due diligence and feasibility assessments
- Negotiate planning conditions and S106 agreements in collaboration with internal and external teams
- Monitor planning policy changes and assess impacts on current and future projects
- Represent the business at planning committees, public consultations and stakeholder meetings
- Work closely with development, design, technical and construction teams to ensure planning compliance
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in a planning manager or senior planner role
- Strong background in residential and/or mixed‑use development
- In‑depth knowledge of the UK planning system and policy framework
- Experience managing complex planning applications and negotiations
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Commercial awareness and problem‑solving mindset
- Experience working client‑side for a developer or consultancy background preferred
Qualifications:
- Degree in Town Planning or related discipline
- MRTPI chartered (or working towards) preferred
