Responsibilities

• Leading the preparation, submission, and progression of planning applications for residential developments
• Developing and implementing planning strategies to support new land acquisitions and site promotions
• Managing pre-application discussions with local authorities, stakeholders, and consultants
• Coordinating supporting documentation and statements for applications and appeals
• Monitoring local plans, planning policy updates, and identifying future development opportunities
• Collaborating with internal teams across land, design, and technical to align planning with business objectives
• Managing and coordinating external consultants to ensure timely and effective planning delivery
• Supporting Section 106 negotiations and managing planning obligations
• Ensuring all planning activity is delivered to the highest professional and regulatory standards

The Ideal Candidate

• Proven experience in town planning, ideally within a housebuilder, planning consultancy, or local authority
• MRTPI qualification (or actively working towards) is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of the UK planning system with experience of residential or mixed-use projects
• Confident communicator with excellent negotiation and presentation skills
• Commercially aware, able to balance planning requirements with development objectives
• Highly organised, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Based in or near Leicester, with the flexibility to travel to sites across the East Midlands
