Job Description
Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Horsham
Salary: £70,000 – £85,000
We’re working with a leading residential developer seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Commercial team in Horsham. This is a pivotal role within a growing business, suited to someone with strong housebuilding experience and proven leadership ability.
You’ll take commercial responsibility for three live residential sites, delivering around 300 high-quality, low-rise homes. These multi-phase developments require robust budget management, proactive risk control, and accurate reporting.
Reporting directly to the Commercial Manager, you’ll play a central role in the financial performance of your projects, leading on cost planning, subcontractor procurement, valuations, change management, and final accounts to ensure developments are delivered profitably and in line with business targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of 3 live residential developments (approx. 300 units)
- Preparing and overseeing budgets, forecasts, and cost reports
- Procuring and managing subcontractor packages and contracts
- Producing accurate CVRs and reporting to senior management
- Managing monthly valuations, payments, and final accounts
- Identifying and managing variations and change control
- Supporting land appraisals and project start-up activities
- Driving commercial best practice and risk management
Requirements
- Proven experience as a QS or Senior QS in residential housebuilding
- Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and procurement processes
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple sites and oversee junior team members
- Highly organised, detail-focused, and confident communicator
