We’re working on a confidential opportunity for a planning manager to join a leading developer with a strong regional presence and a long-term, well-funded pipeline of residential development.
This role would suit an experienced senior planner currently working client-side, in consultancy, or within a local authority, who is looking to apply their planning expertise in a commercial development environment while still maintaining a healthy work–life balance.
You’ll be joining a well-resourced land and planning team, working on a varied portfolio of sites ranging from early-stage land promotion through to live planning applications and delivery support.
The role
- Managing and coordinating residential planning applications from pre-app stage through to determination
- Providing planning strategy and advice to support land acquisition and site appraisal
- Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, stakeholders and internal teams
- Managing external planning consultants and technical inputs
- Interpreting local plans, emerging policy and national guidance, including NPPF changes
- Supporting appeals where required and contributing to longer-term pipeline planning
- Working closely with land, technical and delivery teams to unlock sites efficiently
About you
- Experience within housebuilding, development consultancy, or local authority planning
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and residential development process
- Comfortable managing multiple sites and priorities at different stages
- Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Commercially aware, but with a strong grounding in sound planning judgement
